Leeds Pre Wedding Shoot – Yorkshire-Lea & Jon

It was 12° C with rain forecast in Leeds city centre that day. As I sat waiting the number of hoods and umbrellas passing by increased as the rain threatened. My phone buzzed, Lea and Jon were running late. The pub windows soon reflected a famous scene from the titanic as festive drinkers filled the room to escape the cold and wet rain. The weather was a far cry from Dubai that Jon and Lea are acclimatised to.

The gloomy weather didn’t dampen spirits. After a good chat about their wedding plans and random conversations about filtering water before making a coffee, we stepped outside and tried to make some awesome photos.

Leeds was busy and the rain was wet. Jon and Lea were great sports and didn’t bat an eyelid when asked to stand still as possible in an underpass as cars crawled passed. My eyes and brain were in overdrive as I was looking for interesting pictures but also trying to keep my couple dry… it was awesome.

I absolutely love doing these pre-wedding shoots. It gets my couple out of the pessimistic view that they look all “Chandler Bing” in front of the camera and allows me to be creative and spontaneous. Shooting that day in Leeds, with the rain and dwindling winter light was a challenge, but a challenge that I relish. Shooting in these less than ideal conditions makes me a better photographer and reaffirms that Clichy “play hard, fight easy”. Massive shout-out to Lea and Jon who got straight into it and their easy-going nature made for some awesome images.

Lea and Jon returned to the UK to tie-the-knot in Buxton from Dubai and I’m so excited to photograph their special day.
