Askrigg Village Wedding, Yorkshire-Jennie & Chris
An Askrigg village wedding, in the Yorkshire Dales set the scene for Jennie and Chris’ absolute cracker of a wedding! The day was blessed with unforecast blue skies and the most brilliant sunshine. Jennie and Chris managed to gather together the most awesome family and friends as I struggled to find a picture without a mouth wide open in hysterical laughter.
I was welcomed to document both their wedding preparations and once the groom donned his suit, necked a pint and the bride stepped into her chosen dress the show was on the road. The day was then orchestrated by the warmest and most joyous vicar that quickly calmed any nerves and filled St Oswald’s church with echoed laughter and heartfelt words.
Followed by the obligatory confetti gauntlet the food was soon on its way. The guests were invited to enter their own bakes into a wedding day bake-off with Bob the best man stepping in as the guest judge. With a belly full of victoria sponge and treacle tart the best man grabbed a well-earned rest and the head bridesmaid (who must do stand up in her spare time) busted out the most terrible and equally brilliant version of “ My Heart Will Go On” from the film Titanic. She was soon joined by the bridesman, who together did a couple of hits but an excellent version of Beyoncé “Single Ladies” stood at for me and topped off an absolute banging wedding.
Not only did I have the privilege to photograph their wedding was even afforded a seat at a table which was a new and welcomed experience. Thank you, Jennie and Chris and guests who welcomed me and allowed me to be a part of their day.
