Wow, what can I say about the wedding of Francesca & Mike? I’d say it was full of good old-fashioned romance, emotion, wit, laughter and a good serving of Italian culture.

We started the day at Fran & Mike’s flat in Leeds, where I was met by a few of Fran’s Italian friends and sister who were getting ready rather quickly with Fran’s carriage imminent. I do love capturing the bride or groom getting ready in their own home, it’s a bit like a Keith’s Lemon’s “Through the Keyhole” but you know who the couple is. You can pick up on so much, their likes, taste and interests but not only that, the person is much more relaxed and you’re observing how everyone interacts. but this time it was a little different, I didn’t understand anything they were saying. Soon I was completely outnumbered, with Francesca’s mum and dad arriving whom quickly took pity on my lack of language skills and translated any important information. I have been to Italy twice and had tried to learn some Italian before the day, but it was being said so fast that I gave up and was happy to receive their help. I was all over who was who, as I ask for all the key players in the day and commit their names to memory as I think it’s really important.

Once at the venue, I was immediately reminded that Francesca and Mike are both history buffs. Throughout their engagement and wedding arrangements, Fran was studying for a PhD and is now known as Dr Petrizzo – well done Fran! So I wasn’t surprised their venue was in a grand grade I listed building and held in a banqueting hall in the iconic (Morley Town Hall). One of my most favourite moments of the day is when Fran was perched on the side of a deep red leather-topped table, swinging her legs whilst they dangled off the side, bouquet in one hand and calmly checking her nerves with the other.

Imagine getting married in an awesome grade listed building and then celebrating in one too… Well, that’s exactly what the gorgeous Francesca & Mike did. They couldn’t resist the charms of The (Left Bank) wedding venue in Leeds, a former derelict church restored into a gorgeous space for nuptials and parties. Letting in gorgeous light through its immense windows and making fabulous use of some of the original features for speeches and celebrations. It is dramatic, insanely beautiful and most definitely has the WOW factor. As did bride Francesca in her stunning Italian dress which looked fantastic against an epic blue wall.

All the epic-ness of their day has been captured and ready for your perusal below.

p.s. they knew how to party!
