David & Roberta
Being a York-based wedding photographer, I’m certainly not put off by journeying across the country to capture a couple’s special day. When days like this present themselves it makes the motorway miles all the more rewarding.
David and Roberta’s wedding was a fantastic day, where Florida met the Midlands in the culturally rich heart of Birmingham. Their family and friends made long journeys, even across “the pond” to witness their loved ones marry their sweetheart.
Their day was very nearly hampered by the usual temperamental UK weather. However, the clouds soon disappeared and the only rain present were tears of joy, triggered by heartfelt words and big unfeigned embraces.
The wedding was split perfectly between two locations, the Uffculme Centre wedding venue and the Kitchen Garden Cafe. The first being a historically rich 19th Century building and the second a quaint independent venue hidden down an alleyway. The ceremony room offered beautiful light, with its high pitched conservatory style roof and floor to ceiling windows. The gardens provided a great location to photograph David and Roberta and guests, with bright green summer trees and open gardens. The Kitchen Garden Cafe, which was conjoined with Fletchers Bar and eatery, gave the guests the perfect breakfast location. It offered great food and drink, all in a tranquil oasis in the heart of Kings Heath. The two venues complemented David and Roberta beautifully.
Throughout the day strong American and midlands accents and the usual “we say rubbish and you say trash” (which the American guests respectfully entertained) could be heard. Conversation often strayed into where they might visit in the UK whilst they have the opportunity; York was a strong and biased suggestion from me.
David and Roberta and their most awesome guests, thank you for having me capture your most excellent day, it was an absolute pleasure.
